I stood within the ring of stones,
my body as solitary there,
as if from those stones it had grown,
as though my soul had ceased to care,
The moon was full and bright,
the sky lit as the fire took,
and, as mystics forged the night,
my soul and body shook,
Alone, as always, I had come there,
to feel the power in my veins,
Only alone did I go where none other dared,
to cry the secret tears of my pains,
I heard the distant roll of thunder,
and felt the rains come down,
before the sky was torn asunder,
and my soul was borne to the ground,
I have thus seen the veils of Time rent,
and the misty curtain has, before me, parted,
where I see my people, in duty, bent,
but never, in peace, departed,
These stones will stay for all time,
a monument to souls who allow,
the future to keep them in rhyme,
and prove that they will never bow.
