Departure

.
She roams through the night,
afraid and alone
Few can see her, fewer care.
She dances in a dress of white,
yet all you see is but a shadow
Her mark is left upon the room,
filling the occupants with terror
She wishes peace, yearns for
love, betrays that trust
Her fault it was not, yet her
guilt keeps her tied
She can go no further, waiting
for the fear to depart
She believes, yet questions
Not understanding what holds
here, why she can go no farther
She looks for help, and gets
her chance,
A door wide open, a caring
soul, her only chance
A great fear, a lack of breathe,
the Beacon knew all she needed to know
The Empath understood, followed
her friend, proved to others she existed.
A great truth revealed, a great
proof shown
A kindness shared between two
new friends
The story unended, the door
still open, another follows
Not understanding, fright,
he forces his way
The friend stays the battle,
yet answers the challenge
understanding not, but doing
what she feels is right,
the Empath slams him through
the door, and allows the lady in white to follow if she wishes
She does but does not, yet
following her heart knows she must return
As friend drifts from friend,
the key is shared
No door can separate them
The Empath stares at the moon,
wondering why she feels no pain
As she searches for a trace
of loneliness, all she can find are threads of despair.
She tries an experiment, closes
her eyes, searches for the emotions of her friend
As she searches, she hears
a word, sent across her face on the silky breeze,
She knows all is finished.
From time to time they meet
like this, to allow the other to realize they are never alone
That they shall always have
each other.
