THE WORLD PEACE FLAME

It's true meaning unfolds in mysterious ways, for each individual.
All you need to do is trust and hold dearly the intention of peace.
May the joy of deep peace be with you.
Please share this gift of the Peace Flame with all who enter
into your life and watch what happens.

FOCUS AND INTENTION

The candle you will receive has been lit from the World Peace Flame.  This Flame was born of seven Millennium Flames of Hope, which themselves came from peacemakers and spiritual elders on five continents.  These flames were flown to England by military air forces to be united.  This is the first time in history such a Flame has been created. This flame is traveling all over the world and now it can come to you.  It is a reflection of the light you already carry.  Lighting the candle is a good focus for meditation and prayer, both day and night.  Daily candle lighting is more than a gesture of peace, it is actually peacemaking.  When you sit with your Peace Flame and focus on the highest within you, that loving energy is shared with the Flame. Thus, intention is a very important part of being a Guardian of the Flame.  Please hold this compassionate intention when you light it.
This Flame has burned in sacred ceremonies, in parliaments, on peace walks, in prayer groups, at the bed sides of the ill and dying, in homes and schools throughout the world.  The mother flame burns continuously at a center in the Snowdonia National Park in Wales.  May the Peace Flame burn forever in your heart. Please pass this gift on.  When you do pass the Flame on, it is best to use a taper dedicated to this purpose (a taper is anything used to carry fire from the Peace Flame to the receiving wick).

PEACE DEVOTION

Imagine. . . lighting a candle, a candle that holds the intention of peace.
Imagine. . . that the intention of the candle lighting starts with you.
Imagine. . . that you and you alone are responsible
for keeping the Peace Flame within yourself.
Without you, there is no illumination,
without you there is no Peace on Earth.
It is why you are here, to keep peace illuminated.
Imagine. . . all of heaven standing with you as you "strike the match,
light the flame and hold the intention of peace . . . IMAGINE!

CARING FOR YOUR FLAME

Most people, because of their lifestyles, will not be able to maintain a 24 hour Flame.  When you want to extinguish the candle, wave your fingers briskly above it to fan it out.  This is preferable to blowing it out.  If it is difficult to fan the flame out, you can snuff it out or give it a a few quick pinches until it goes out.  But don't worry, if you have to blow it out, that's fine.  Nothing about this Flame should be a burden.  It's not meant to be heavy, but light!  Please remember that if your Flame goes out for any reason, your sacred intention remains held in the wick and you may simply and gracefully relight your lamp.
For those peacemakers who wish to keep a perpetual flame, paraffin oil lamps are suitable and readily available in hobby stores and gift shops.  The Life Foundation, originators of the World Peace Flame project, will soon have lamps available.
